About Improv Prague: The Heart of English Improv in Prague

Improv Prague is a leading hub for English-language improvisational theatre, comedy, community, and applied improv training in the Czech Republic. Founded and led by Tim Burgi, a long-time member of the Prague improv scene, Improv Prague brings together high-quality performance, welcoming education, and professional applied improv work under one umbrella.

Our mission is simple: to create great shows, meaningful learning experiences, and well-run spaces where people can explore improv with confidence.

🎭 Blue Moon Improv (Performance)

Blue Moon Improv is our flagship performance brand, producing high-energy, hilarious, and completely unscripted English-language improv comedy in Prague.

As of January 2026, we perform short-form improv comedy games weekly at Cože? Bar (Prague 7) on Wednesdays at 8:00 pm. We also produce innovative long-form narrative shows, including Praguetasia: The Improvised Musical Fairytale, which runs monthly at Metro Comedy Club, usually on the first Thursday of the month at 9:00 pm.

Before our Wednesday shows, we host drop-in improv workshops at 6:30 pm at Cože? Bar. These sessions are beginner-friendly and designed to be fun, social, and confidence-boosting — a great way to meet people and try improv for the first time.

In addition to drop-ins, we offer structured improv classes with new intakes at the start of each month. Courses run on a monthly membership basis and include:

Performance Lab – a stage-focused course for experienced improvisers

Improv FUNdamentals – a beginner-friendly introduction to improv

🏢 Prague Playworks (Applied Improv & Corporate Training)

Through Prague Playworks, we apply the principles of improvisational theatre to professional and organizational settings. Applied improv is a powerful tool for team building, leadership development, communication, and creative problem-solving.

Drawing on Tim’s extensive experience in corporate teaching and facilitation, Prague Playworks designs workshops that help teams collaborate more effectively, build trust, and adapt with confidence — all through structured play.

We also offer a public applied improv course, Improv for Life, focused on personal and professional development beyond the stage.

Prague Improv Network

Prague Improv Network serves as a central hub for English-language improv in Prague. In its early years, it published a weekly overview of all English language shows and events across the city, and organized “mixers” with open workshops and jams that connected performers from many different backgrounds.

These events played a meaningful role in shaping the local scene. Improvisers from different groups and language communities—who had often existed in parallel—shared stages and trained together. New groups emerged directly from these mixers, and for many performers, Prague Improv Network was their first point of contact with improv in the city. The community attracted newcomers, visiting performers, and contributed to the growth of the Prague improv scene.

As the scene grew, it also became more complex. Prague Improv Network shifted it’s focus toward producing and promoting its own events and collaborations with closely aligned partners.

Improv Prague Community Jam

Once a month we have a community jam, where friends and students from all courses can play with each other, and the main cast.

About Tim Burgi

Founder of Improv Prague

Tim is originally from Vancouver, Canada, where he got his start in improv with Theatresports Vancouver. He was active in the international improv scene in Switzerland, before moving to Prague in 2015. He is a founder of the groups Too Much Too Soon? / Script for Brains, Exit 87, and Blue Moon Improv, was a long time member of Creative Differences, joined BLR as a performer and instructor, founded the Prague Improv Network, and has hosted many workshops, jams, shows and classes.

Tim is an active member of the Applied Improvisation Network. He has extensive experience teaching in businesses, and specializes in taking the techniques of improvisational theatre and applying them in the workplace.

He holds a BA in Philosophy, along with education in Journalism, Communications, and Teaching (CELTA), and lives in Letná with his wife and dog.
